" He does not deal with us according to our sins or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the Heavens are above the earth so great is His steadfast love towards those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west so far has He removed our transgressions from us. As a Father has compassion on His children, So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him. For He Himself knows our frame. He is mindful that we are but dust..." (Psalm 103: 10-15)
I am but dust.
In my finiteness and shortcomings, He patiently bears with me. And with my ugly, selfish sinfulness He tosses to the wind and remembers no more.
He not only forgives and forgets but Jesus claims them as His own.
He who is all Glory and perfection inexpressible.
Over the years I have come to love the Christmas hymn Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence. In all the Earthly joy and celebration of Christmas, the Heavenly Host calls us to take a moment to stand in holy silence and awe even as they wonder at this Great God made humble Flesh to reconcile His lost, entitled and spurning children.
He does not treat me like I deserve.
But lavishes grace upon grace upon grace.
